24th  Annual  Academic  Sessions -  Invitation  for  Abstracts

The 24th  Annual  Academic  Sessions  of the  Kandy  Society  of Medicine  is  scheduled  for  the  14th , 15th  and  16th  February  2002 .

On  behalf  of the  Council  of the  Kandy  Society  of  Medicine , We invite you  to  submit  original  abstracts for  the  Academic  Sessions . Abstracts for  the  Bible  Memorial  Oration , The  Kandy  Society  of  Medicine  Oration  and  for  free  papers , both  oral  and   poster  presentations  are Invited . 

Abstracts  for  Orations  should  also  include  three  copies  of  the  full  paper . Closing  date for  Orations  : 15th  November  2001.

Abstracts  for  free  papers will  be received  until  15th  December  2001. Late  abstracts  will  not  be  entertained .

INSTRUCTION TO AUTHORS SUBMITTING ABSTRACTS
FOR THE 24thANNUAL ACADEMIC SESSIONS OF
THE KANDY SOCIETY OF MEDICINE
14TH, 15TH & 16TH FEBRUARY 2002 

Authors

        1.      The principle investigator of the project shall be the first author
2.      The first author  will be responsible for the study, the abstracts and the ultimate presentation
3.      Address of the first author should be stated

Contents

        The material  supplied  was  not  published  earlier.
The text of the abstract should not exceed 300 words

It shall include :    Brief, informative title
                                Objective of the study
                                Methods used
                                Findings
                                Conclusions
Generic names of drugs, standard abbreviations and standard technology should be used.

Presentation

Entire title in capital letters
Leave one and a half lines blank, followed by names of authors, and name of the institution where the study was done followed by two blank lines and the narrative of the abstract

Four printed copies of the abstract should be submitted  , with  a  1.44 MB , 3.5”  floppy diskette.Two copies should include names of authors and place of work.  The names of author and the place of work should not appear on the other two copies ( Abstract should not be faxed nor sent by e-mail )

Selection

The anonymous abstract will be reviewed by a panel of referees and selected for acceptance. The authors will be informed by January 2002 of the results. Abstracts accepted will be published in the abstract book
